Lamar Smith bulled his way to 209 yards on 40 carries and the game-winning score Wild Card Weekend!!
The first 2000 playoff game came and gone and in the end the Dolphins rose up to the occasion and defended their AFC East crown by defeating the Colts. Lamar Smith rushed 40 times for 209 yards, including the game-winning score in OT, to lead the Dolphins to a 23-17 win. Smith broke Larry Csonka's franchise record for yards rushing in a postseason game to lead the Dolphins back from a 14-0 deficit.

It was a tale of two halves. This first half was one the Dolphins would like to forget and never want to happen again. In the first two quarters Jay Fielder threw 3 interceptions, which resulted to 10 points for the Colts. By the end of the first half the Colts had a 14 point lead. However, the only two bright spots for the dolphins was Lamar was running well and the defense were playing with a lot of heart and keeping the big three of Indy in check.

Second half featured a record being broken a quarterback back in form and wide receivers making tremendous plays. The second half produced a Dolphins offense reborn. The dolphins came out and scored on their opening drive, which brought the dolphins within 7 points. By the fourth quarter the dolphins were down by 4 points, after a Mare field goal. With 5 minutes remaining the Colts scored a field goal after just missing a chance to score a touchdown. This brought out the dolphins offense who needed a touchdown to tie the game and force overtime. With Lamar leading the way with his running game, this opened up the field for Fielder to throw. Mcduffie and Ogden made some key first downs to keep the drive alive and on a 3rd down play from the 10 yard line of the Colts Fielder finds Weaver who rolls into the endzone for a TOUCHDOWN!!

Here we are in overtime, the dolphins starting inside their own 10 yard line. Fielder drives the dolphins to their 25 yard line, but on a crucial third down Mcduffie could not hold on to the football, which ended up in Miami punting the ball. Peyton did his job and brought the Colts to the Miami 32. Because of a dolphins penalty the Colts were faced with a 3rd and 6 or a 4rth and 1 Miami's 32 yard line, thanks to a completed pass by Manning. Colts chose the 4th and 1 and went for the field goal. The kick up and NO GOOD!!. Miami takes over on their 40 yard line and with some excellent run calls and pass receptions, Miami drove down the field for a a a a a a a a LAMAR SMITH TOUCHDOWN!! Game over the Dolphins move forward in the playoffs and send Jim Mora home still looking for his First Playoff win as a head coach.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE DOLPHINS FINAL WEEK OF THE REGULAR SEASON

Week 16 has come and gone and for those who predicted Miami would be a 5 and 11 team they proved otherwise this year. Miami clinced the AFC East with a win versus the New England Patriots this past Sunday December 24th.

Miami had two glorious chances to capture the AFC East against both the Indy and Tampa Bay, however with a banged up QB and a defence that forgot how too play defense, whic cost the Dolphins a chance to get a first round bye. However, this could of been a blessing for the Miami Dolphins as they are coming into the playoffs with a huge win!! The dolphins showed the adversity to comeback several times from behind and win a football game. Jay Fielder played outstanding and showed why he Miami's #1 QB.

THE GREATEST QUARTERBACK TO EVER LIVE!! Dan Marino
Sure you may say Joe Montana, Steve Young, Troy Aikman or John Elway are the greatest QB's to play the game. But consider this, would each QB be so succesful if they didn't have the outstanding talent playing along side each of them.

This is why I consider Dan Marino being one of or if not the greastest QB in history. Dan has never had the supporting cast as each of the others I mentioned on top, but somehow was able to hold almost every passing record throwing to guys who were not even 6 feet tall. Considering that he had no runnig game, was not mobile had an inconsistent offensive line, Dan Marino was still able to break records, excite us every Sunday with his heroics. This is why Dan Marino is considered to be one of the greatest individuals to play this great sport we know as FOOTBALL!!
